November's Mom of the Month

Kirstin and her sweet daughter, Isabelle, have been dedicated Stroller Striders since April of this year. They regularly attend classes and if you want to see a super-strong mama, look no further than Kirstin!

Kirstin is extremely hard working and is an inspiration to everyone around her. She has made great strides in fitness, motherhood, and life, and we are so thankful that she is an integral part of Our Village!

Join us in congratulating Kirstin and read on to get to know her a little better!

Mom of the Month Questions:

Hometown (where you grew up): Centerville, Ohio

Current part of the Triangle that you live in: Cary

Education (optional): BA in Psychology with a minor in Business Management from the University of Cincinnati

Stroller Strides Member since: April 2017

Members of your Family: Michael my husband, and Isabelle our daughter

Tell us about your children: Isabelle is almost 10 months old; she was born on January 12, 2017 which was her exact due date! She has brought us so much joy this year! She is crawling everywhere now and keeps us very busy!

Current/previous Career: I worked as a Recruiter for Seattle City Light (City of Seattle) for about 3 years. Prior to that I was an Admissions Counselor at a small college and have worked in lots of retail/sales jobs!

What was your childhood ambition? I was all over the board, I don't think I could've chose one thing!

What does motherhood mean to you? Nothing can compare to motherhood, I love being a mom and really feel blessed to have my family!

What is the furthest you have been from home? Michael and I took a Mediterranean cruise in Europe in 2015-- Greece was SO beautiful!

What has Stroller Strides done for you (or meant to you)? I knew after my first workout with SS that this was my type of thing! I just moved to NC one year ago, so I have really enjoyed meeting new moms who are going through the same thing (little sleep, spit up everywhere, haha). Also working out really helps keep me sane--I always feel so motivated and energized after a good workout.

What is your favorite exercise? Squats!!

What is your proudest moment? I grew up swimming competitively so naturally I used to hate running, but in 2015 I ran both a half marathon in April and the Seattle Marathon in November, and it was one of the hardest things I have ever pushed myself to do, but I was proud so proud that I tried something new and so outside my comfort zone. Now I can say I like running!

What are three of your favorite things (besides your family!)? A good gluten free pizza, reality tv shows, and sitting on a beach listening to the waves.

Tell us something about yourself that would surprise us or makes you unique. I was diagnosed with Celiac Disease in 2008 so I have to eat a completely gluten free diet. Although it is a really drastic change, I have always tried to not let it effect my attitude towards food. I am a total foodie! I love trying new restaurants and making new recipes at home!

If we asked your spouse what they think your best qualities are, what would they say? I’m a passionate person and also a loyal friend.

What advice would you give to moms looking to get back into shape? Take it one day at a time! You can do it!
