Mom of the Month Questions:

Hometown (where you grew up): Durham, NC

Current part of the Triangle that you live in: west cary

Education (optional): masters degree in Occupational Therapy from UNC

Stroller Strides Member since: April 2015

Members of your Family: Single mom to my 21 month old daughter, Addison

Tell us about your children: Addison is a sweet, sassy, and caring little girl! She loves babies, baby dolls, and being outside as much as possible. She thinks she's already two and wants to do everything herself :)

Current/previous Career: I'm a pediatric Occupational Therapist. I work with kids with a variety of disabilities.

What was your childhood ambition? I wanted to work with kids and do something to make a difference in their lives.

What does motherhood mean to you? Motherhood is way more work than I ever expected but also so much more rewarding! I love having the opportunity to teach my daughter by example.

What is the furthest you have been from home? I've been all over - Argentina, Egypt, Switzerland, Scotland, France, England, etc

What has Stroller Strides done for you (or meant to you)? Having a colicky baby on my own was really difficult for me. Stroller Strides helped give me a mental health break, got us on a schedule and out of the house regularly. It gave me a group of mom friends to help provide support and advice and give me fun things to look forward to. Now Addison loves being outside, going for walks, and getting to come play with her own little group of friends. Stroller Strides was definitely a blessing for us!

What is your favorite exercise? Any abs :)

What is your proudest moment? Hmm I have a bunch! My daughters baby dedication at church, closing on my first home by myself last month, when I realized I could make it through a whole SS class after my c-section without needing to do low impact modifications, just to name a few :)

What are three of your favorite things (besides your family!)? I love being outside, reading on the beach, and having a glass of wine with friends!

Tell us something about yourself that would surprise us or makes you unique. I have 2 metal plates and 12 screws in my left forearm due to cheerleading injuries in high school. I set off metal detectors at the airports!

If we asked your family what they think your best qualities are, what would they say? Hmmm, maybe that I'm loving, caring, and creative?!?

What advice would you give to moms looking to get back into shape? Try to get into a routine and make it part of your daily schedule. Stick with it when babies fight the stroller, mine screamed every class for the first few months but now loves it and knows everyday that we don't go to work and daycare that we will be at Stroller Strides!
