September's Mom of the Month

Rachel, along with her sweet daughter, Dylan, has been a dedicated Stroller Strides mama for a over a year, first in Baltimore and now with us. Rachel and Dylan are regulars at many of our locations, from Southpoint in Durham all the way to Crowder Park in Apex!

Rachel is extremely hard working and is an inspiration to everyone around her. She has made great strides in fitness, motherhood, and life, and we are so thankful that she is an integral part of Our Village!

Join us in congratulating Rachel and read on to get to know her a little better!

Stroller Strides Member since: Started classes July 2016 in Baltimore. I have been doing SS here since we moved in May.

Members of your Family: Husband- Stephen, Daughter- Dylan ( 15 months)

Tell us about your children: Dylan is loving, funny, and sassy. She loves soccer balls (kicking and throwing them), dancing, and our dog( a French Mastiff). Pizza is hands down her favorite food. She won't go to sleep at night without her baby right next to her.

Current/previous Career: Currently a SAHM. I was working as a Licensed Mental Health Counselor for children and their families, mostly in the school environment.

What was your childhood ambition? I always wanted to be a News Anchor. As a child I would spend hours making my own "broadcasts".

What does motherhood mean to you? Motherhood means the world to me. I've always wanted to be a mommy and getting to be Dylan's mom has been the greatest gift I've ever received.

What is the furthest you have been from home? Italy, my senior year of high school.

What has Stroller Strides done for you (or meant to you)? Stroller Strides has been my sanity this past year! When I first started classes after Dylan was born it provided us with a sense of routine and started our day on a positive note. It allows me to chat with other moms and get in a great workout all while also interacting with my child.

What is your favorite exercise? I love squats!

What is your proudest moment? Delivering Dylan.

What are three of your favorite things (besides your family!)? Dessert (can I say that twice??), exercise, movies.

Tell us something about yourself that would surprise us or makes you unique. I am a Registered Play Therapist.

If we asked your spouse what they think your best qualities are, what would they say? Kindness, sense of humor, compassion

What advice would you give to moms looking to get back into shape? Join SS, stick with it. It really helps to have friends to work out with and to hold one another accountable.
